Definition of Frequency

Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time. It is also referred to as temporal frequency, which emphasizes the contrast to spatial frequency and angular frequency. Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) which is equal to one event per second. The inverse value of the frequency represents the duration (time) of one period. Frequency is one of the most important parameters of the periodical waveforms.

The RVmagnetics MicroWire sensor measurements excited by the excitation coil and gathered by the sensing coil. The frequencies of the exciting coil are from 10 Hz up to 10 kHz (audio freq.).
