Main Advantages

Even though conventional torque sensors can provide quality data, they need a lot of practice to handle, such as special gluing methods, electrical wiring, and more. MicroWire sensors can also provide quality data monitoring with added value in their passive nature and non-complicated handling. No special adhesives are needed, no wiring, just simple placement of a sensor inside of a material during the manufacturing process. Its magnetic nature creates a unique signal detectable with the tailor-made sensing device up to a few centimeters.

Measurement Principle

If twisting force is applied to the pipe equipped with MicroWire, torsion is transferred to the sensor. The MicroWire operates without direct contact with the sensing device, which detects twisting force via the MicroWire’s magnetic response, processes it electronically, and displays it in real-time. It can inform not only about the intensity of applied force but also about its direction. The contactless passive sensor, capable of sensing the direction and magnitude of twisting force, is scalable according to the client’s needs and can be adjusted based on specific requirements. The system also allows for addressing more complex tasks, such as creating twisting force distribution maps along the shaft.
