General Overview

RVactuators is a deep-tech company developing next-generation microactuators based on shape memory materials, specifically Heusler-based MicroWire technology. These actuators enable intelligent motion and sensing in compact, high-performance applications.
RVactuators combines advanced materials science with scalable manufacturing to deliver: - High axial strain (>10%) - High durability (millions of cycles) - Adjustable transformation temperatures - Cost-effective production These features allow superior performance compared to conventional actuators.
The company was established in 2024 in Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic, a major European innovation hub.
RVactuators was founded by Prof. Dr. Rastislav Varga, a physicist and entrepreneur known for pioneering MicroWire-based sensing technologies.

Technical Overview

Microactuators are miniature devices that convert energy into mechanical motion. RVactuators’ solutions operate at the micro-scale and can both move and sense, enabling intelligent systems.
The shape memory effect allows materials to return to a predefined shape when exposed to stimuli such as heat or magnetic fields, enabling controlled and reversible motion.
MicroWire technology uses glass-coated metallic microwires with unique magnetic and mechanical properties. These wires enable high strain and precision motion, allow magnetic self-sensing and operate efficiently with low energy input.
Unlike traditional actuators (hydraulic, pneumatic, electric), RVactuators have no bulky mechanical components, require minimal energy, provide higher reliability with less wear, operate in a wide temperature range and provide higher axial strain.
RVactuators’ MicroWire-based actuators can withstand millions of cycles (up to 9 million+), ensuring long-term reliability without performance degradation.
The technology supports a wide temperature range (approximately -170°C to +420°C) and performs reliably in harsh conditions, including space applications.
RVactuators specializes in micro-scale solutions designed for compact, space-constrained environments where traditional actuators are impractical.
Applications include robotics and automation, aerospace and space systems, medical devices and smart infrastructure and energy systems.
